Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Contract
In March 2004, BAA USA announced a ten-year retail management contract for the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. The airport is one of the fastest-growing airports in the US - approximately 20.3 million passengers used the airport in 2004, up from 19.6 million in 2003.
Contract type and duration The 10-year contract began with the completion of the airport's new A/B terminal complex in 2005. The contract gives BAA the responsibility for the design, construction, sub-leasing, tenant co-ordination, management and marketing of more than 140,000 sq. ft. of food, retailing and catering services in the new concourse.
Retail The retail development is part of the $1.8 billion capital expansion program at the airport. BAA and its subtenants will invest between $40 to $45 million in the project, with BAA's commitment of some $10 million in the shell and core of the facilities and $2 million for further renovations.
